Cookie policy

This policy explains the cookies and similar browser storage canvasletter uses. It sits alongside our privacy policy. canvasletter is run by Cypress Technologies LLC.

The short version

We use only what the site needs to work: keeping you signed in, protecting forms and remembering a few settings. We don't use advertising cookies, and our visit counts don't use cookies at all. If we add optional analytics, they'll wait for your consent.

Essential cookies

These keep canvasletter working and secure, so they don't need consent.

  • Sign-in session (better-auth.*): keeps you signed in and protects your account. Lasts up to 30 days, or until you sign out.
  • Sidebar layout (sidebar_state, sidebar_width): remembers whether the app's sidebar is open and how wide it is. Lasts 7 days.
  • Form protection (Cloudflare Turnstile): checks that forms like sign-up and contact are sent by a person. It may set short-lived storage of its own during the check.

Settings stored in your browser

Some preferences live in your browser's local storage rather than cookies. They never leave your device.

  • cookie_consent: your answer to the cookie notice, so we don't ask again.
  • theme: light or dark mode in the app.
  • Editor panels and "what's new": which panel you had open and which updates you've seen.

Analytics

  • Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights count page views and measure loading speed without cookies and without identifying you.
  • Optional product analytics: if we turn on PostHog (hosted in the EU) to understand how features are used, it stores nothing on your device until you choose Accept all. A referral cookie (cl_ref, 30 days) that tells us which link brought you is also set only after you accept.

Third parties

When you sign in with Google or pay through Stripe, you're on their pages, and their cookies and policies apply. We don't allow advertising networks to set cookies on canvasletter.

Your choices

  • Choose Accept all or Essential only in the cookie notice. To change your answer, clear this site's data in your browser and the notice will ask again.
  • Your browser can also block or delete cookies. Blocking essential cookies will stop you signing in.

Changes

If we add a new kind of cookie, we update this page and the date at the top first.
